Mindy Duitz is a consultant to Sterling Martin Associates in the firm's Nonprofit Practice. With over twenty-five years of experience as a museum director and arts management consultant, Ms. Duitz is well versed in the administrative and philosophical issues facing emerging arts organizations as well as those related to established ones. As the first director of the Staten Island Children's Museum she brought a new institution from concept to reality, and as director of The Brooklyn Children's Museum -- the world's first museum for children (1899)--she had the experience of revitalizing an established one.

Ms. Duitz has a Master's Degree in Art History, and served as a member of the board of the American Association of Museums (AAM). She has taught in the NYU Museum Studies Program and the Museum Management Program in Boulder, Colorado; was Chairperson of the Association of Children's Museum's Task Force to develop standards for the field; and was a member of the AAM Excellence and Equity Task Force.

For the past twelve years, Ms. Duitz has been a consultant to museums, arts and arts education organizations, foundations and other not-for-profit groups. She specializes in strategic planning and project coordination, and provides interim management to organizations during periods of transition. In addition, Ms. Duitz spent four years as a Program Development Fellow at the Open Society Institute (Soros Foundation) responsible for developing and implementing a national Arts Initiative directed at increasing access to the arts for under-served audiences.
