Innovation and Value Initiative Foundation Hires New Chief Science Officer
Washington D.C. (March 1, 2021) – The Innovation and Value Initiative Foundation (IVI) hired Richard Chapman as their new Chief Science Officer. Chapman begins his new role today, bringing more than 30 years of professional experience in health economics and outcomes research from his work with nonprofit research organizations, healthcare consulting, and academia.
Previously to becoming Chief Science Officer for IVI, Chapman served as the Director of Health Economics at the Institute for Clinical & Economic Review (ICER). At ICER, Chapman led the development of economic evaluations that accompanied rigorous reviews of clinical evidence, including the assessment of potential costs, cost-effectiveness, and budgetary impact of a wide range of diagnostic, prognostic, therapeutic and other clinical interventions.
Prior to ICER, Chapman was a Vice President of Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) at Avalere Health, where he directed the design and analysis of economic evaluations and health outcomes studies. Chapman was also a principal in HEOR and U.S. regional lead for the Retrospective Database Analysis Center of Excellence at IMS Health. Previously, he was at the Center for Risk Analysis at the Harvard School of Public Health. Chapman is also the recipient of numerous awards and fellowships in healthcare policy and research.
Chapman holds a PhD in Health Policy with a concentration in decision sciences from Harvard University. He also holds a MS in Health Policy Management from the Harvard School of Public Health.
