The National PTA welcomes Howie Berman, MA, CAE as the association’s new executive director. He tenure begins on May 19th.
With a career spanning more than 20 years in nonprofit association management, Berman has held leadership roles across a range of education-centered organizations. His background includes serving as Chief Operating Officer at ACTFL, where he later became Executive Director, leading the organization for five years. He managed IT and membership services at the American Society for Cell Biology, and he joins National PTA from the National Federation of Modern Language Teachers Associations (NFMLTA), where he served as Interim Executive Director supporting initiatives to enhance language teaching and learning through research and collaboration.
As Executive Director of National PTA, Berman will support efforts to make a lasting impact on the education, health, safety and well-being of every child and ensure that all children, families and schools have the resources they need to thrive.
A Certified Association Executive (CAE), Berman earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Spanish from the University of Richmond and a Master’s degree in Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Chicago.
