AACAP Appoints Sharon Ahrens as Chief Financial Officer

Washington, D.C. (January 9, 2024) The American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry has appointed Sharon Ahrens as its next Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Her first day in the role was January 8, 2024. 

Ahrens brings more than 10 years of financial leadership experience in associations, nonprofits, and the private sector to the organization. Prior to joining AACAP, she worked at Horizon Goodwill Industries–starting as Director of Accounting and Finance before being promoted to Chief Business Officer. Her other previous roles include serving as Accounting Manager at Oasis Brands, Inc., as Senior Staff Accountant at America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP), and as Orchestra Manager of the Maryland Symphony Orchestra. 

Ahrens received a bachelor’s degree in accounting and business administration from Shepherd University and has also earned her certified public accountant (CPA) license.
