Washington, DC (February 27, 2025) – The American Council of Academic Physical Therapy (ACAPT) is proud to welcome Dr. Celia Zamora as Executive Director. Her tenure started on February 10th, 2025.
Dr. Zamora joins ACAPT from ACTFL, where she was the Director, Professional Learning and Certification for almost four years. Celia is an empathetic and empowering leader, creating a pro-bono mentoring program for young professionals in underserved communities. She is also an active volunteer leader in the association space, serving as the inaugural chair of the new CAE Registered Provider Committee and chair of the task force on neurodiversity for the ASAE Research Foundation.
She earned her PhD in Applied Linguistics from Georgetown University, she is a Certified Association Executive (CAE) and is multilingual.

ACAPT represents the interests of academic physical therapy professionals across the United States. Established in 2014 to provide a new, unified voice for academic physical therapists, the organization caters to members in various domains of physical therapy education and practice, including academic institutions, clinical settings, research facilities, and more. ACAPT’s organizational membership includes approximately 95% of all accredited academic physical therapist programs in the U.S. It represents over 256 physical therapy educational institutions and serves and represents the employees of these institutions, including over 5,000 members comprised of faculty, clinical partners, and academic administrators and leaders.
