The American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists (AAOP) is seeking an Executive Director to lead the organization. The position is based at the organization’s headquarters in Falls Church, VA. A 501(c)6 organization with a $2.2 million budget, an 11-member Board of Directors, and a staff of 6, AAOP provides licensure and education programs to its membership through online offerings, in-person trainings, and a national conference each spring. It offers its membership access to an extensive research database, publications, and professional development opportunities. AAOP advocates for its members’ interests, provides networking opportunities, and mentors students and diversity groups in the profession. Sterling Martin Associates has been retained to conduct this search.

The Executive Director will report to the Board of Directors. In addition to setting the strategic direction for AAOP, the Executive Director will lead all administrative, financial, and operational functions of the organization, and will play a key role in advocating for issues that impact members and the field of orthotics and prosthetics. The Executive Director will represent AAOP at the annual conference, events, and Board meetings. Some travel is required.
