AHIMA Hires New Chief Knowledge Officer
Washington, DC (March 4, 2019) – The American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) selected Cheryl Martin as new Chief Knowledge Officer. Sterling Martin Associates assisted in the search to fill this position. Cheryl Martin began her new role with AHIMA on 1/02/2019.
Cheryl Martin has approximately 32 years of healthcare experience in hospital settings and healthcare systems, with specialization in building and leading talented interdisciplinary teams, relationships with stakeholders in all disciplines, and development and integration of enterprise-wide healthcare and health information management technologies.
While Cheryl has spent her career in hospital settings, she understands the cultural and structural differences in the nonprofit association sector; she has volunteered and worked closely with leaders at HIMSS and AHIMA at the state and national levels. She notes that the skills necessary to succeed in both environments are similar – building and leading diverse teams, integration of communications and technology systems, and a clear vision of the organizations’ missions.
