John Thorner Enters as Interim CEO for AIUM
Washington, D.C. (January 3, 2024) – The American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) has named John Thorner as Interim CEO. He started the role on January 2, 2024.
Thorner’s expansive and varied leadership experience in professional associations spans more than 30 years. He recently served as Interim Executive Director at the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) Foundation and as Executive Director of the American Bar Association’s Section of Taxation. Additionally, he is a Consulting Manager at Westman & Associates Consulting, where he provides guidance on governance, strategic planning, and operations. Thorner has also served in executive roles at the Academy of General Dentistry and Academy of General Dentistry Foundation, American Society of Anesthesiologists and Anesthesia Quality Institute, National Recreation and Park Association, and Optical Society of America.
Thorner holds a bachelor’s degree in history and political science from Duke University, a master’s in journalism from Columbia University, and a JD from the University of Georgia. He is a certified association executive (CAE).
