Washington, DC (December 5, 2019) – After conducting a national search on behalf of the Mechanical Contractors Association of Georgia, Sterling Martin Associates is pleased to announce Andy Sumpter joins the MCAG as President and Chief Executive Officer.
Sumpter has more than 25 years of professional experience in construction management, project management and engineering roles with construction-related companies. He joins MCAG from his most recent role as Vice President, Mechanical Construction for Player and Company, a contractor for industrial electrical and mechanical systems. He was initially hired at Player and Company as a Project Manager and was promoted numerous times during his 21-year tenure.
In his new role at MCAG, Sumpter is responsible for the administration and management functions of the organization. He will also act as manager of labor contracts, job training, business planning/financial analysis, and lead the Mechanical Industries Council Education & Training Fund (MICETF).
Sumpter holds a MBA from Georgia State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He is also certified by the State of Georgia as a Professional Engineer. He previously served on the Board of Directors of MCAG for 10 years, including a term as President in 2013, and currently serves as President of the National Certified Pipe Welding Bureau (NCPWB).
