The North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (NASPGHAN) welcomes Celena T. NuQuay, MA, CAE as its next Executive Director. She started this role on June 2, 2025.
With a career spanning over 20 years in association and non-profit management, NuQuay has held leadership roles across a range of organizations, including those in higher education, public health, medical societies, and trade associations. Her background includes serving as the Vice President of Constituency Programs and Governance at the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA), where she led the governance transformation process for the governing board and committees, engaged key constituency audiences strategically, and managed innovative programs like the Future Leaders program, Regional Women in GI initiatives, and the NIH-funded FORWARD program.
As Executive Director of NASPGHAN, NuQuay will support efforts to improve the care of infants, children, and adolescents with digestive disorders by promoting advances in clinical care, research, and education. She is committed to leading NASPGHAN in its mission to be the world leader in research, education, clinical practice, and advocacy for pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition in health and disease.
A Certified Association Executive (CAE), NuQuay earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, North Carolina, and a Master’s degree in International Relations from The American University in Washington D.C. She also holds additional certifications in Design Thinking and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion management.
