Washington D.C. (September 1, 2021) – The American Psychiatric Association Foundation (APA Foundation) recently announced their hire of Rawle Andrews Jr., Esq., to fill their open executive director position, effective September 27, 2021. Andrews’ possesses 34 year of professional experience, including 15 years as a senior executive with AARP, most recently as the organizations Vice President.
In a recent news release from APA Foundation regarding Andrews new role. They describe his upcoming job requirements, “As executive director, Andrews will oversee its efforts to raise awareness about mental health, overcome barriers to access, invest in the future leaders of psychiatry, support research and training to improve care and lead partnerships to address public challenges in mental health.”
Andrews received his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Texas Southern University in 1987 and received his Juris Doctorate in 1990 from Howard University. He spent his early career as a business and commercial litigator. He has been an Adjunct Law Professor with Georgetown University and Howard University since 2007. After fifteen years in the private practice of law, he joined AARP to focus his career on mission-based work.
