Washington D.C. (June 9, 2021) – Mental Health America announced today the appointment of Schroeder Stribling as President and Chief Executive Officer, effective June 28, 2021. Stribling’s professional experience includes more than 25 years in a variety of sectors, including social work and a multi-service nonprofit.
Stribling joins MHA after 18 years at N Street Village, a nonprofit providing housing and support services for women and families. Most recently she served as Chief Executive Officer for N Street Village. Stribling joined N Street Village after her role as Senior Social Worker at Johns Hopkins Bayview Hospital, where she lead a team to implement new mental health programs in the inner-city Head Start school system.
In Stribling’s initial career after receiving her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Wellesley College, she knew she wanted to explore roles related to social justice work. She accepted a position at The Stone Center at Wellesley College, which was the on-campus counseling center. There, she coordinated the implementation of federal grants for use in mental health prevention programming for young adults. Through this role, Stribling was introduced to many social workers and grew interested in the work they were doing on substance abuse, mental health, and women’s psychological development and well-being.
Stribling decided to pursue her Master of Social Work, which she received from Smith College School for Social Work in 1992.
