American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy Announces Incoming EVP/CEO

Washington, D.C. (April 11, 2022) – The American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) recently introduced Lee Vermeulen, M.S., FCCP, FFIP, as their incoming Executive Vice President/Chief Executive Officer, effective July 1, 2022. He will be AACP’s seventh EVP/CEO to date.

Vermeulen has 28 years of experience in pharmacy and academia. For the past two years, Vermeulen has served as the Chief Efficiency Officer at University of Kentucky (UK) HealthCare. In his executive role, he is responsible for the development and oversight of enterprise-wide efforts to improve operational efficiency of care across three hospitals, 80 specialized clinics, 140 outreach programs, and a staff of 11,000 physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and healthcare workers. His initiatives involve multiple clinical areas and require working closely with the leadership of the university and its academic health system, UK HealthCare.

Vermeulen is also a medicine and pharmacy professor at the University of Kentucky. His academic work focuses on the development and implementation of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines and clinical decision support tools that drive the efficient delivery of high-quality health care.
