Council for Exceptional Children Appoints Chad Rummel As Executive Director

Washington, DC (January 7, 2020) – The Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) started the year with their newly appointed Executive Director, Chad Rummel. Sterling Martin Associates conducted the comprehensive national search process on behalf of CEC.

Rummel has nearly 16 years of experience, including six years as an educator and nine years in professional membership associations. He has strong expertise in education initiatives, Board and volunteer management, digital communications and events management, sponsorship/development initiatives, and advocacy.

Prior to joining CEC, Rummel served as Executive Director of the Society for Personality and Social Psychology (SPSP), an international organization and the world’s largest association for social and personality psychologists.

Rummel also serves as a Board member and Treasurer of the Consortium of Social Science Associations, where he works with other Executive Directors, Capitol Hill lobbyists and specific federal agencies, including the Department of Education, the National Institutes of Health, and the National Science Foundation.

Rummel received his Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education with a concentration in Business and Journalism from Emporia State University and his Master of Education degree in Education Leadership from George Mason University.
