Lucho Vásquez, New Executive Director for the D.C. Coalition for the Homeless

Washington, DC (March 7, 2025) – The D.C. Coalition for the Homeless is proud to welcome Lucho Vásquez as Executive Director. He started this role on February 28, 2025.
Lucho joins the Coalition with an extensive background in executive leadership, dedicated to programs supporting housing, clinical services, and family mental health and substance abuse. His previous roles include leadership positions at Housing Up, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration (SAMHSA) within the Department of Health and Human Services, and Homeless and Housing Services at Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington, DC.
His strategic vision, demonstrated capacity to manage programs and lead people, and his deep passion for displaced individuals led him to found 10 different programs in the DC Metropolitan region. His role in expanding essential services in DC highlights his proactive approach to addressing mental health crises, especially within underserved communities.
As Executive Director, Lucho will build upon the Coalition’s legacy of excellence and continue expanding the organization’s services to those in need.
He earned his Master of Social Work from Howard University and his Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science from Catholic University of America. Lucho is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and holds a Certificate of Specialized Training in Emergency Services from International Critical Incident Stress Foundation.
About The DC Coalition for the Homeless
Founded over three decades ago, the Coalition is a pivotal organization dedicated to transitioning homeless individuals in Washington, DC to independent living. The Coalition focuses on providing services to transition predominantly homeless men to independent living. The organization also provides shelter services to district residences. The Coalition owns six properties in the District, which house a combination of permanent, temporary, and emergency accommodation programs, and which are supported primarily by the Washington, DC government. The Coalition also owns one additional mortgaged property on 50th Street, which houses homeless LGBTQ+ adults.
