Washington, DC (April 29, 2019)– Sterling Martin Associates is happy to share that Melanie Richardson is the new VP of Finance and Operations for National Asphalt Pavement Association. SMA led the search to fill this role. Richardson’s professional experience includes over 26 years with nonprofit membership associations in executive roles ranging from finance and accounting to operations. Previously, Richardson served as Chief Program and Strategy Officer with the National Human Service Assembly, a nearly 100-year-old membership association consisting of the largest national nonprofit human services providers in the country. The Assembly has a budget of approximately $1.5M, including a for-profit wholly-owned subsidiary, National Assembly Business Services. Richardson was responsible for all of the functions in the organization including membership, programming, finance, human resources, and information technology. In 1990, she received a Bachelor’s degree in History from Colgate University.
About NAPA
The National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA), founded in 1955, has nearly 1,200 members consisting of both companies and individuals. The organization’s revenue budget is in the $10 million range and has a staff of 25. NAPA has recently installed Abila MIP accounting software and is also implementing a new membership database system.
NAPA is the only trade association that exclusively represents the interests of the asphalt pavement material producer and paving contractor on the national level with Congress, government agencies, and other national trade and business organizations. NAPA supports an active research program designed to answer questions about environmental issues and to improve the quality of asphalt pavements and paving techniques used in the construction of roads, streets, highways, parking lots, airports, and environmental and recreational facilities. The Association provides technical, educational, and marketing materials and information to its members, and supplies technical information to users and specifiers of paving materials.
