Stuart Reid Appointed CEO of AAVMC
Washington, D.C. (November 1, 2024) – The American Association of Veterinary Medical Colleges (AAVMC) has appointed Dr. Stuart Reid as its next CEO. His tenure is slated to begin August 1, 2025.
Reid has decades of distinguished experience in the veterinary field. His career has spanned the United Kingdom, Africa, Australia, and North America and includes work in both the public and private sectors. Reid has served as President and Principal of the Royal Veterinary College in London since 2011. Prior to that, he was Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Glasgow. Reid has also taught as a professor at the Universities of Glasgow and Strathclyde.
Reid earned his Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery, Doctor of Philosophy, and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees from the University of Glasgow.
Additionally, he is an accomplished volunteer leader. His activities include serving as President of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS), President of the Society for Veterinary Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine, and Vice Chair of the International Society for Veterinary Epidemiology and Economics.
Reid has received numerous honors throughout his career. He was made a Commander of the British Empire in 2018 for his work in the veterinary profession and higher education. Reid is a Fellow of both the RCVS and Royal Society Edinburgh, and was elected to the National Academy of Medicine in the United States.
