Washington D.C. (May 10, 2022) – The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) recently announced David Grindle as their incoming executive director, effective July 18, 2022. Grindle brings decades of experience to the role as a proven nonprofit leader with a background in opera, theatre, academia, and association management.
Grindle is a Certified Association Executive. He is joining SMPTE after serving 12 years as Executive Director for the United States Institute for Theatre Technology. While leading in his previous role, he also served as a Fulbright Specialist with eh U.S. Department of State, a position he holds through January 2024. He is an honorary member of the African Theater Association and has one a Distinguished Achievement Award from the Berry College Alumni Association.
Grindle is an international speaker and has given notable presentations at various conferences, summits, and lecture series. He was the keynote speaker at the Entertainment Technology New Zealand 2015 Biennial Conference and a featured speaker at the 2013 China Entertainment Technology Summit. He holds a MSM from the Indiana University of Music and a BA from Berry College.
