George K. Guszcza Takes on Role as President and CEO of NIBS

Washington, D.C. (June 20, 2024) – The National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS) is pleased to welcome Dr. George K. Guszcza as its next President and CEO. He will officially join NIBS on July 1, 2024. 

Guszcza brings extensive global expertise from the built environment industry that spans the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. He has held key executive roles at Michael Baker International, including National Director of Federal Programs and Services and, most recently, Chief Transformation Officer. Guszcza’s prior positions include Chief Operating Officer of the Neal Richards Group, Executive Vice President of Finance and Administration at Adams and Associates, Chief of Operations at Project HOPE, Government Lead and Program Manager at the US Army Corps of Engineers, and Chief Human Resources Officer as well as Chief of Logistics in the US Army. He also launched and held the role of President of The Aedifos Group, a multinational startup. 

Additionally, Guszcza has served as an active duty US Army Medical Service Corp Officer and the National Director of Healthcare Facilities for Iraq under the Coalition Provisional Authority and Iraq Ministry of Health. In this capacity, he led a staff of 3,000 architects and engineers to restart hospitals, speciality centers, and clinics around Iraq.

Guszcza earned a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from the United States Military Academy at West Point, a Master of Science in Major Program Management from the University of Oxford’s Saïd Business School, and a Doctor of Engineering in Engineering Management from The George Washington University. He is a Certified Professional in Engineering Management (CPEM) and a Certified Construction Manager (CCM). 

He is an active volunteer whose activities have included serving as Chair of the Civil Engineering Institute (CEI) Board of Directors at George Mason University, on the Board of Directors of the Society of American Military Engineers Northern Virginia, and as a Governing Board Member of WiRED International.
